FAQ's or Frequently asked questions.

This section will expand and grow over time as we receive many different enquiries each day. Please bear with us and if you cannot find what you are looking for please contact us using the details on our contact page.

  • What does WEEE stand for? WEEE is the acronym that represents the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.

  • Can you take scrap and non-working IT hardware? Yes. We can take all of your non-working hardware away and recycle it for you. We will also deal with the relevant paperwork for you so there is even less for you to do. Just contact us and we can arrange collection within a few days.

  • When will WEEE come into force within the UK? The directive has been looked at many times by our government but adoption within the UK has been put back until 2007.

  • Where can I find out more about how it affects us? There is lots of information within this site such as on the articles page but more detail can be found at www.dti.gov.uk

  • Should we bother worrying about this yet? Well the answer is simple, yes. This legislation is coming and in the long run will benefit us all by reducing costs through re-usability and reducing the amount of Arsenic, Lead and Cadmium to name but a few affecting our environment.

  • Can you wipe data from all my drives? Yes we can. We have software that will wipe your data to government standards. When this process has been completed we will provide you with a certificate to that effect for your asset records.

  • Do you have any alternative solutions to wiping my disks? If you would prefer we can offer to disable your hard drives in a number of ways. They can be mechanically punched to render them inoperable or alternatively they can be shredded or reduced to powder.

  • Can you help with all IT hardware? We are equipped to help with all forms of IT and Telecommunications equipment. We can also help with copiers, plotters and scanners.

  • What does asset management mean? We can help you manage the life and productivity of your business assets from cradle to grave. This can be from sourcing to installation to disposal. This can be offered as a 'one off' or on a rolling contract for an agreed term.

  • Can you help with office relocation and refurbishment? Our team is able to help you relocate your hardware systems either to new premises or within your existing. This can include all cabling and network points. We can also help dispose of all redundant office furniture for re-use in the business start up sector.

  • I have accidentally wiped my data, can you help recover it? We do offer a data recovery service but have to stress that this is not a guaranteed service. We would ask for the drive to be assessed for viability and then we would forward an estimate of cost. Please contact us to discuss this service.

  • Will you pay me for my old computer? This depends on the age, condition and potential re-sale value of the unit.

  • Can you audit my computer network? We offer a service that will audit your whole network identifying each machine and compiling the software licences on each one. We can also produce a resource that will catalogue all you need to know about your IT infrastructure just in case the IT whizz is out the day it all falls over.

  • Can you offer IT Support? This can be provided on a one off basis or as a rolling contract per server and or per PC. We do normally refer you to one of our technical partners but we are able to give you sound advice on what you may need to ensure your efficiency and 'Business as usual'.

  • Can I recycle my old mobile 'phone with you? We can recycle mobile telephones for you but to assure the best value for our charities they will need to be in reasonable condition with the charger and battery.

  • Can I recycle my old print cartridges with you? Yes certainly. We endeavour at all times to have these recycled in an environmentally friendly way using our partner Green Cartridges. A donation will be made to our charitable fund.
